Citegrove · Reddit-first AI citation outreach

Reddit Outreach Pre-flight

Reddit can be the highest-leverage outreach channel for SaaS — but only on the right threads. Paste any Reddit URL and we'll score how actionable it is: thread freshness, engagement, locked/archived state, the subreddit's self-promo rules, karma and account-age gates, plus a sample comment draft so you can see what good looks like before you spend the karma. No signup. No spam. Just clarity on whether this thread is worth your time — or whether you should keep scrolling.

How it works

Four signals, one score

  1. 1

    Pull the thread metadata

Upvotes, comment count, posted date, locked/archived state — straight from Reddit's public JSON API.

  2. 2

    Pull the subreddit policy

Self-promo rules, karma minimums, account-age gates, restricted/private status.

  3. 3

    Score for actionability

Fresh + active + permissive subreddit = high score. Stale, locked, or self-promo-banned = score collapses.

  4. 4

    Generate a sample draft

Anthropic Claude writes a Reddit-native comment so you can see what helpful (not promotional) looks like.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Do I need a Citegrove account?

Not to use this. The optional email capture below the result unlocks a weekly digest of similar high-score threads pulled from your category.

Are you helping people spam Reddit?

No. The scorer flags subreddits where self-promo is banned, threads that are locked or stale, and surfaces karma/account-age requirements. The whole point is to filter OUT bad outreach attempts before you make them.

How accurate is the score?

The score combines Reddit-API thread metrics (upvotes, comment count, freshness, locked/archived state) with subreddit policy heuristics. It is a directional signal — verify the rules text yourself before posting.

Where does the draft preview come from?

It is generated by Anthropic Claude using a generic brand context. In the full Citegrove product, drafts use your actual brand profile, ICP, and value prop — so they sound personal, not template-y.

What URLs work?

Any reddit.com or old.reddit.com thread URL of the form /r//comments/<id>/<slug>. Direct links to comments work too.

Why did it say my thread is locked / archived?

Reddit auto-archives most threads after 6 months and locks others when mods feel discussion has run its course. Both make outreach impossible — Reddit will not surface new comments.

Do you store my Reddit URL?

We do not persist URLs you paste here. We do log a hashed IP for rate limiting (10 lookups per IP per 24 hours).
