Refund policy

7-day free trial — no charge during the trial
Every Citegrove subscription starts with a 7-day free trial. Polar (our merchant of record) captures your card at checkout but does not charge it during the trial. If you cancel any time before the trial ends — one click in the Polar customer portal — you pay nothing. After 7 days the trial converts automatically to the paid plan you chose at checkout.
Monthly plan
Monthly plans are charged in advance on the day your trial converts and on the same day each subsequent month. If you cancel from the Polar customer portal, your subscription stops renewing — you keep access until the end of the current billing period. We do not pro-rate refunds for partial months.
Exception — billed in error: if you were charged after cancelling, or charged twice, email hello@citegrove.com within 30 days and we will refund the erroneous charge in full.
Yearly plan — 14-day refund window
Yearly plans ($180/yr) include a 14-day refund window from the date of the first paid charge (which is 7 days after sign-up, when the trial converts). If you decide Citegrove isn't for you within those 14 days, email hello@citegrove.com and we will issue a full refund of the yearly fee, no questions asked. After day 14 we do not pro-rate yearly refunds; cancellation stops the next year's renewal but the current year remains active until its end date.
How to cancel
- Sign in at citegrove.com/sign-in.
- Open Billing from the top nav.
- Click Open customer portal (or Cancel trial or manage in Polar if you're still on the trial). You will be taken to your Polar customer portal.
- In the Polar portal, click Manage subscription → Cancel subscription.
You receive an email confirmation from Polar once cancellation is recorded. Access continues until the end of the current paid period (or end of trial). After that, scans pause, drafts stop generating, and we retain your data for 30 days in case you reactivate.
How to request a refund
Email hello@citegrove.com with the email address on your account and (if available) the order id from your Polar receipt. We aim to respond within 1 business day. Approved refunds are issued by Polar (our merchant of record) back to the original payment method and typically appear within 5-10 business days depending on your bank.
Chargebacks & disputes
Please email us before opening a chargeback — most issues are faster to resolve directly than through your bank. If you do dispute a charge with your bank, your account access pauses while we investigate. We honour every legitimate refund request, so a chargeback is rarely necessary.
